Continental Automotive Systems (CAS) is a leading technology partner in the global automotive industry, delivering outstanding systems, components and engineering services for vehicle safety, comfort and powertrain performance. CAS includes two major operations: the electronics specialist, Continental Temic, and Continental Teves, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of electronic and hydraulic brake, stability and chassis control systems, electronic air suspension systems and sensors.

To maximize the performance of our technology team, our operations are organized into customer-oriented and project-oriented business units. Our Active Passive Integration Approach or APIA Project is dedicated to networking active and passive vehicle safety. It brings together and leverages many products and technologies within our "Electronic Brake and Safety Systems" unit.

The goal of this project is to develop a vehicle that prevents crashes and injuries. This is a visionary concept, but it's already well on its to becoming reality. In 2003, at the Frankfurt International Auto Show, Continental presented a technology proto-type with functioning APIA and sub-systems ready for manufacturing. The use of this revolutionary technology is already within reach.
